Five Queer Christmas Albums Worth Adding to your Holiday Playlist
The holiday season is in full swing, but, if you’re like us, you’re probably getting a little sick of listening to the same songs year after year! Rather than throwing on the classics – like Michael Buble & Maria Carey – grab a cup of cheer and start building a more inclusive playlist using these brand new holiday albums released by queer artists!
Pentatonix, A Pentatonix Christmas Deluxe
Members of Grammy Award-winning a cappella Group, Pentatonix, Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying are both openly gay and are strong supporters of the LGBTQ+ community. Sing along to your favourite Christmas music this season, Pentatonix style.
SIA – Every Day Is Christmas
In 2013, SIA came out as queer in the Twittersphere, and has been a strong representative for the LGBTQ+ community ever since! In November, she released her holiday album that is full of only original tracks!
Sam Sparro – Christmas in Blue
Australian artist, Sam Sparro, started singing in church before finding his voice in the world of pop. By being an ‘out’ pop star, Sam hopes to inspire queer youth to be themselves, and love themselves too. Included on his holiday EP are some familiar Christmas classics, as well as his original song, Christmas in Your Heart.
RuPaul’s Drag Race cast members, Christmas Queens 3
The Christmas Queens 3 album is a collection of (mostly) parody songs featuring veteran queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race! Their compilation of holiday classics and originals are sure to impress!
A Very Marti Holiday – Marti Gould Cummings
Marti Gould Cummings is one of NYC’s most prevalent Drag Queens. He has been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and has created awareness for a number of LGBT charities. All proceeds that are made from his album, “A Very Marti Holiday” will go to The Ali Forney Center for LGBT youth.
