Central Alberta Pride Festival
It’s almost here! Are you ready?
Mark your calendars because the Central Alberta Pride Festival is coming up soon! The event will run from August 13-20. This week-long festival will include many exciting activities, performances, round-table talks and much more, all focused on the LGBTQ+ community.
All members of the LGBTQ+ community, friends, families and allies are welcome to attend and support the events that will take place throughout the week. Through this event, organizers hope that people will gain a sense of community and feel pride in their identity. Some of the events will also present opportunities for addressing current and past challenges of the community both here in Alberta and around the world.
The week will start with a kickoff party on Sunday the 13th. Live performances, a visit from the mayor, food trucks, bouncy castles, games and beer gardens will be featured at Pride in the Park, the first major event of the Pride festival. The week will continue with both family-friendly and adult oriented events. There’s something to be found for all! Many events are free, and most fees will support the Central Alberta Pride Society. The pride festival will end with a lazy river raft float on August 20. Make sure you wear your finest pride gear!
We hope to see you out there celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride. We’ll be there too, celebrating and joining in the festivities. At Fairy Tales, we always support local LGBTQ+ events. We’re looking forward to seeing you at the pride festival and showing our pride together.
