Fairy Tales 2011: Insighting Conversations! Beyond the screen... (51)
During Fairy Tales we hosted a panel discussion with AIDS CALGARY on Monday May 30, we brought in a new audience with our annual BRING-A-STRAIGHT-NIGHT on Tuesday May 31 and hosted a screening of GEN SILENT with a performance of SENIORS A GOGO (compliments of Calgary Sexual Health) on June 2. We wanted to engage people beyond the screen! -

Q the Arts: Calgary's first annual Queer Arts & Culture Festival (44)
On March 5, 2011 at the Arrata Opera Centre, Calgary added a new festival to its roster: Q the Arts, Calgary’s first Queer Arts & Culture Festival. Featuring a diversity of artistic genres, including visual art, theatre, music, dance and spoken word, the festival united a gamut of exciting artists under the umbrella term “queer”. Up until now, you may have only associated Fairy Tales with the success of the film festival but the thirteen sensational years have made it apparent that there’s room for more – more artists, more voices, more forms of expression. Q the Arts was a huge success both in terms of audience and artist interest – the event sold out! Keep your eye on on our site to find out when the next incarnation of the event will be!! -
