In this YouTube age, filmmaking really is a fantastic means of helping youth to find their voice, and discover the power of saying no to bullying and homophobia - together! It all started last year, with our Youth Anti-Homophobia PSA Program mentoring young filmmakers in the process of making an effective public service announcement. The PSA's addressed homophobia, inspired in part by It Gets Better, and by the work of the Calgary Police Service & Calgary's Outlink Youth Group in raising local awareness. It Gets Better Project founder, Dan Savage, attended the 2011 film festival in honor of PSA youth.

If you prefer to donate in person, we accept cheques by mail or at the office.

MORE ABOUT BRAD FRASER & HIS WORK....

Before TRUE LOVE LIES and QUEER AS FOLK, Brad Fraser's breakthrough was the play, UNIDENTIFIED HUMAN REMAINS AND THE TRUE NATURE OF LOVE, adapted into the feature-length film LOVE AND HUMAN REMAINS. Meet characters Kane and David on screen before you see them on stage.

LOVE AND HUMAN REMAINS is a dark comedy about a group of twentysomethings looking for love and meaning in the '90s. The film focuses on roommates David, a gay waiter who has has given up on his acting career, and Candy, a book reviewer who is also David's ex-lover. David and Candy's lives are entangled with those of David's friends (a busboy, a psychic dominatrix, and a misogynistic civil-servant) and Candy's dates (a male bartender and a lesbian schoolteacher). Meanwhile, a serial killer menaces the concrete and asphalt neighbourhood in which David and Candy live.

TRUE LOVE LIES by Brad Fraser

Kane and Carolyn are happily married, run their own business, and have two rebellious teenagers: outgoing Madison and geeky Royce. The typical nuclear family. But when Madison applies for a job at the new restaurant in town, Kane and Carolyn find that a man they had long forgotten has just re-entered their lives: Kane's ex-lover. Sparking a series of further revelations, the sudden re-appearance of David exposes suppressed emotions and desires in everyone and the family must renegotiate their relationships with each other and, ultimately, redefine their family.

In sharp, non-stop dialogue, Brad Fraser brings each of his characters to life with a depth, humour, and emotion that tears open the nuclear family and finds the heart that is often lost and forgotten.

"Fraser is still writing with the urban, contemporary vitality that makes his work so refreshing." - J. Kelly Nestruck, Globe and Mail.

After premiering Fraser's controversial Unidentified Human Remains and The True Nature of Love back in 1989, ATP is ready to share this smart, sexy and provocative drama about a Canadian family with the Calgary audience. True Love Lies was first produced at the Royal Exchange in Manchester, England, to critical and audience acclaim.
